U.S. Embassy Bujumbura Open in New Location

This message is to inform all U.S. citizens traveling or residing in Burundi that the U.S. Embassy has moved.  As of October 29, 2012, the Consular Section of the U.S. Embassy Bujumbura is open for services at the new location.  The Embassy main number (22 20 7000) and Consular Section phone number (22 20 7225) remain the same.

The new U.S. Embassy Bujumbura address is: No. 50 Avenue Des Etats-Unis, 110-01-02, Bujumbura, Burundi.  U.S. citizens seeking consular services should enter through the Consular Section entrance, located on Avenue du Cinquantenaire.

U.S. Citizens should check the appointment calendar on the U.S. Embassy Bujumbura website to make an appointment.  The ballot box will now be located at the Consular Section entrance, with blank FWAB (Federal Write-in Absentee Ballots) and postage-paid envelopes for your convenience.  Please refer to the Information Message for U.S. Citizens dated October 1, 2012 for more information on casting your vote overseas.

These numbers are available from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time, Monday through Friday (except U.S. federal holidays).

If you are going to live in or travel to Burundi, please take the time to tell us about your trip by enrolling in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP). If you enroll, we can keep you up to date with important safety and security announcements. It will also help your friends and family get in touch with you in an emergency. You should remember to keep all of your information in STEP up to date. It is important during enrollment or updating of information to include your current phone number and current email address where you can be reached in case of an emergency.
