The Consular Section of the U.S. Embassy Bujumbura will be closed for services from October 22 - 26, and will be unable to provide any routine services for U.S. Citizens including walk-in registration, passport renewal/extra pages, notary services, or reports of birth abroad. For emergencies during and after business hours, please call (257)79-93-88-41.
The Consular Section expects to re-open for regular U.S. Citizen services on October 29, 2012. U.S. Citizens should check the appointment calendar on the U.S. Embassy Bujumbura website on October 29, 2012, to make appointments for that week.
A ballot box will remain outside the Embassy's main entrance, including FWAB (Federal Write-in Absentee Ballots) and postage-paid envelopes for your convenience. Please refer to the Information Message for U.S. Citizens dated October 1, 2012 for more information on casting your vote overseas.
Registration can always be done online through the Department of State's Department of State's Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP), to receive the latest travel updates and information and to obtain updated information on travel and security issues.
